Welcome!

Finding a beautiful family member is straightforward and simple if done right.

Like anything, having the knowledge and experience to identify a pet for you to love and share your life with is important. Dealing with people that have done this for years, that know what to do and what to avoid – it makes the outcomes more reliable and enjoyable. We have a network of contacts that have significant experience and many adoptions over 10+ years – we draw on their love and knowledge to ensure you have a good experience with us. The
dog you adopt becomes part of your family so we take that bond so seriously and consider the part we play a privilege. At the same time, it is always important to us to get feedback from you and listen to what matters to you so we can do our very best by both you and the dog.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does the Process Take?

The process of adopting one of our beautiful dogs or providing home-based foster care need not take more than 2-3 weeks. Our initial talk and some due diligence to find the right dog is streamlined and reliable to ensure great outcomes for both dog and family.

How Much Does Adopting Cost?

Usually adopting costs less than buying a dog from a pet store, but it is important that the dog has proper papers to travel in the EU from Romania and also travels on a reliable and professional transport carrier. We do our best to keep the costs to the adopter under 200 euro. The most important thing for us is finding a suitable home with good people that will keep the dog for life. That is the reason we are always here to support adopters after the dog has come home.

What Is the Difference Between Adopting and Fostering?

Adopting is a decision to make the dog a part of your family for the life of the dog. It is just like having a child, no different and the emotional connection should be permanent. Life always has ups and downs and we realize this but we adopt to people that share our belief that those family bonds should always be honoured and that the dog is no different to a person. Fostering is generally a short term committment that is often under 12 months and is intended to give the dog an experience of family life, home life that is always going to be preferred over the life in a shelter. Often foster care leads to the family deciding to adopt, but some families foster many dogs over time and their contribution is incredibly valuable.

Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?

Usually when a dog is first rescued they are microchipped, neutered and vaccinated for their own benefit. Preparation for travel includes some vet services and if the dog has health challenges we also need to send the dog to a vet. After adoption, like any other pet, the dog will need to visit the vet and this is a normal responsability for the family, just like a child that is unwell seeing the doctor. Our NGO has a strict no-kill policy so we adopt to people that share that view and if the dog needs medical care, even palliative care, we adopt to families committed to doing this. Our belief also is that dogs should hardly ever be euthanized, and if the costs of vet care are challenging please contact us and we will work together to address this.

Can I take A Pet Home Directly From the Shelter?

Most of the dogs we rescue are initially in Romania, and they travel to different adoptors through the EU. While you
can travel to Romania to collect your dog this is rare. We have professional and reliable transport carriers that can usually transport your dog “door-to-door”. That is, the dog is usually brought to you home by the carrier. After your dog arrives, we have a rescue back up that can provide additional support, particularly during the early stages of the adoption.
