Baldouin is a handsome, medium-sized terrier mix with soulful eyes and a gentle heart that is still learning to trust people.

Life hasn’t always been easy for Baldouin, and as a result he is naturally shy and cautious around new people. He doesn’t seek out attention straight away and prefers to observe from a safe distance. He isn’t aggressive towards people—just unsure and lacking confidence. We believe that in a calm, loving home where he can settle at his own pace, he has every chance to blossom into a loyal companion

Baldouin is looking for a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Watching a frightened dog slowly discover that people can be kind is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable, and Baldouin deserves that opportunity.

Dog Compatibility

Baldouin is not suited to living with multiple dogs. While he currently lives peacefully with one canine companion, he has shown that he prefers not to share his space with unfamiliar dogs and can be dominant towards them. For this reason, he would do best as:

• the only dog in the home, or
• with a carefully matched, calm dog after slow introductions.

He is not suitable for busy dog parks or homes with a constantly changing group of dogs.

Baldouin’s Ideal Home

• Adult-only or older, respectful children.
• A quiet home with a predictable routine.
• Patient adopters willing to let him adjust at his own pace.
• Secure garden and daily gentle exercise.
• Someone experienced with shy or rescued dogs would be a wonderful match.

Baldouin may not be the dog who runs into your arms on day one, but for the person willing to earn his trust, he has the potential to become an incredibly devoted companion. Sometimes the dogs who ask for the most patience give the deepest love in return.
